Jer309GTi 3 Posted January 10, 2006 When I crashed my 309, the o/s back wheel smacked the kerb and bent something in the suspension. From searching past topics I've come to the conclusion that it's probably bent the stub axle. I'm just wondering if it could be anything else, such as the tube that the bearings sit on, or is it always the stub axles that bend? Also, are the stub axles still available from Pug (and how much are they if they are?), or will I have to source a good 2nd hand one? Sorry about all the questions, but I want the suspension sorted before I set to work on putting it on my XS. Cheers
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted January 10, 2006 You may have also damaged the Trailing arm, regarding stub axels, recently tried to get some for a 306 but pug would only sell them with the trailing arm not sure if this is the case for 205's
DrSeuss 0 Posted January 10, 2006 I don't stub axles are still available. You can buy grp. n stub axles from specialtuning at around 30 quid each. Hate to say this but its likely to rub the arch's on the xs.

I started a thread a while ago with regards to putting the 309 beam on the xs and I understand it's going to need some fairly major arch surgery Thanks for mentioning it though
Anthony 1,003 Posted January 11, 2006 Almost certainly a bent stub axle. Generally trailing arms sheer in two rather than bend, and there's pretty much no way you're going to bend the beamtube itself (I reckon the shell would bend first).
Jer309GTi 3 Posted January 11, 2006 Cheers for the replies everyone. Those grpN stub axles on specialtuning: Stub Axles Are they pretty much the same as standard, so they will fit an otherwise standard brake/suspension setup? I'm guessing they are uprated in some way as they are grpN
DrSeuss 0 Posted January 11, 2006 I think they're uprated to reduce the likelihood of being bent in collisions. You know, with stuff like curbs But should fit standard suspension/wheel bearings/hubs etc.

You know, with stuff like curbs I feel bad enough about killing my baby without you rubbing it in Only joking, thanks for info. Guess it makes sense to replace them in pairs with new wheel bearings?
