James_R 3 Posted January 10, 2006 Well after just joining the pug community and buying a 205 Mi16 I'f had my first french car mishap, happened at failry high revs and speed, something let go and here's the damage. Cracked liner, no piston no exhuast valves and a dead head. Hopefully it will be possible to stick a new liner pistons and rod in, but alot of water went in all the inlets so coudl have hydrolic lock on th eother and bent the rods, so maybe new engine time. Only owned the car for 1 day. Still live and learn i guess. Any donation are welcome at this time. James
easypug 0 Posted January 10, 2006 (edited) I'd get the crank checked before you think about using it. Oh yeah, welcome to pug ownership edit: Just to let you know your not on your own, I had a cam belt go on me in a 205 Mi16 on the first day the insurance started bent all 16 valves! j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted January 12, 2006 Thats very unlucky, the whole engine will need to be stripped down and measured up to get the full extent of the damage.
ALEX 98 1 Cars Posted January 13, 2006 It would be cheaper to buy another engine and use that one for spares.
James_R 3 Posted January 13, 2006 That's the plan I thin Alex, just hope the crank is ok, that's the main bit. and 6 inlet and exahust valves, lol
S33GAV 0 Posted January 13, 2006 Bad luck. Another mi dies, something that's becoming an all too comon occurence. Rebuilding these tired and ragged engines is the only way to go it seems... Good luck
James_R 3 Posted January 16, 2006 The engine was only 4k old from the last rebuild
hman205 1 Posted January 17, 2006 what spec was the old engine? Did you find the remains of the missing piston?
James_R 3 Posted January 17, 2006 Was a just a std rebuild by Miles aka pugracing nothing fancy. The remains of the piston are visible in th epic the two balls of metal at the base of the bore. I've still not taken the bottom end out the car yet, cause it's raining, and I'm waiting till I've got a replacement before I crack on. I'll give it a quick sump off to see what's what down there when I get it out though.
