My New Baby Steerring Wheel

Recommended Posts

driversdomainuk

Hi

Just fitted as 255mm Alphi steering wheel to the 205 I use for hillclimbs.

It is about the size of a go kart wheel!!! - it looks and feels totally mad - not joking, it is like driving a giant go kart now - fun.

So far I can report:

1) slightly better feel of what the wheels are doing

2) quicker to correct oversteer and overall speed of dealing with steering and car movement

However I have also noticed:

1) steering is much heavier - obviously!

2) it has more of an inclination to snatch back to centre when exiting a corner (which it is not doing - I am simply finding it harder, being so much closer to the steering column axis.

Although great - I am only concerned whilst springting, it will be great at the windy parts - some of the real sharp corners may be a little tricky because it is so heavy and snaps back so viciously.

Has any one experience of a smaller wheel like this..?????

Cheers

I used to use a 300mm OMP Trecento on my green 1.9 will probally use it on the turbo too,..i much prefered it over the standard wheel and noticed the same features as you described.Horses for courses though i guess,im only short a 5" 6' but i sure got a strong pair of arms..thnked that helped with the snatch-back effect..exciting though :(

Must admit i would like to try a deep dish big Sparco wheel aswell with steering column lengthened maybe, but that may prove expensive
