driversdomainuk 8 Posted January 6, 2006 Hi Just taken delivery of my Koni adjustables - how do you adjust the rear dampers - its says "3" turns clockwise.... Ok how do you know how much is 3 turns - can you just keep turning it clockwise and hope for the best (i want them on hardest), as there is really no way of knowing and I dont want each side different Cheers
Jonmurgie 2 Posted January 6, 2006 You should find that whichever way you turn them they will eventually stop turning... then you can turn each one a certain number of clicks and you know they are both the same... If you want them full hard then turn them as far as they will go clockwise... be warned though that from what I've read on this forum the Koni's are rather hard and most people run them at nearer the softest setting
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted January 6, 2006 There is a button you have to press & then there are three clicks iirc. As shown here. Graham.
driversdomainuk 8 Posted January 6, 2006 Hi All sorted - hardest setting, knew someone would help me! Cheers
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted January 7, 2006 hardest setting, knew someone would help me! Don't like your teeth then? Most people find them fine on the softest setting (even for track use afaik) & thats plenty stiff enough. Too stiff & the back end will skip around on anything but perfecly smooth tarmac. Graham. engine killer 6 Posted January 7, 2006 tried the hardest on track last month and as mentioned - too hard, the softest worked fine.
Edd-XS 0 Posted January 7, 2006 i had my konis up front set to hardest and found my rears, on a 309 GTi beam to work best on one notch up from softest. let me know if u find them good on hardest though! Edd
jochem 0 Posted January 8, 2006 I've had mine on the second setting for two years now. Havent had any reason yet to change it...
C_W 3 1 Cars Posted January 9, 2006 Koni don't recommend full hardest setting on their shocks, in fact I think I remember reading it invalidates the warranty!
driversdomainuk 8 Posted January 9, 2006 (edited) ummm, perhaps I need to reconsider, bearing in mind that the car is fully stripped out and there is almost no weignt over the rears. So why the hell do they have the hardest level in the first place if they do not recommend..??????????? Edited January 9, 2006 by driversdomainuk
C_W 3 1 Cars Posted January 9, 2006 Who knows but I'm sure I read it somewhere (for the fronts at least). I'd say for a stripped out car (you lose most of the weight at the back anywya I think), then hardest setting is not going to be ideal.
Hilgie 16 2 Cars Posted January 10, 2006 I have them on the second setting (just like Jochem) on my trackday 205 and that's just fine.
driversdomainuk 8 Posted January 11, 2006 well I am just going to see out of interest what the hardest setting is like If I dont like them, I can change them - but at least I will know!
