m.i-man 0 Posted January 5, 2006 Right, this may come as a shock.... but can you make the track narrower on the 309 by using 205 parts? Obviously, 205's take the 309 wishbones to make their track wider, but can this process be reversed, and what width difference is there? If so what else would need to be swapped? Or will the camber be totally out and uncorrectable? Trying to find ways to keep my original Goodwood wheels to cover the brembos. Just interested whether the track can be narrowed to accept 30mm spacers to make it visually correct, if that makes sense? And before you ask the Brembos are going on regardless what you think!! Pugnut 9 1 Cars Posted January 5, 2006 1,i dont know if eccentric top mounts will give you enough to correct the camber? 2,you would need 205 driveshafts 3, using spacers will get you're track back to the correct width but it will totally screw the suspension geometry up . Pugnut 9 1 Cars Posted January 5, 2006 oh , and i think you'll need coilovers . the normal sized springs/pans wont allow enough adjustment on the eccentric top mounts iirc
m.i-man 0 Posted January 5, 2006 I am looking at buying the Gaz coilovers for the front, but you have confirmed the fears of affecting the setup by doing this. Looks like I will have to change the wheels.
d-9 0 Posted January 5, 2006 Nimrods refurbed goodwood style would look good. Or Speedlines Corses goodwood style. 16s of either would be fine.
m.i-man 0 Posted January 5, 2006 Nimrods refurbed goodwood style would look good. Or Speedlines Corses goodwood style. 16s of either would be fine. They would? The spoke clearance? Ideally I wanted 15's. Just not many do a design in a 15 that will clear the width of the caliper.
base-1 17 Posted January 5, 2006 Compomotive MO's will clear them
m.i-man 0 Posted January 5, 2006 Compomotive MO's will clear them Just not overly sure if they will suit the 309 Goodwood. I am thinking of getting the 15x8 anthracites and having the lip polished. But will have to photoshop them first I think!
Anthony 1,003 Posted January 6, 2006 the 15x8 anthracites Sure they'll clear the rear arches on a 309? I don't remember there being a whole lot of clearance there on standard 15 x 6J wheels, let alone ones that are another 2" wider. Also, you'd have to run wider tyres (with a negative effect on handling) unless you're going for the Euro look.
markrnorton 0 Posted January 7, 2006 15x8's only clear with extension arches on a 309. it's very tight on clearance. pics ar with car not fully on the deck, stll got axle stands underneath. these are TH's with ET0, tried to get a pic underneath to show radius arm clearance, it's about 10mm
m.i-man 0 Posted January 8, 2006 I don't think I thought that one through!! They're mahoosive chap. Not to sure on having arch extension on the Goodwood, so may have to rethink this one!!
Sam 4 Posted January 9, 2006 Mark, was it you selling the 8" MO's with slicks, I was so gutted I missed out on those
markrnorton 0 Posted January 9, 2006 It was me selling them, that was a few weeks back Sam!! I sold them as i couldn't get enough caliper clearance, the TH's have a bit more room behind them. The TH's are ford fit, but i had the centre's machined out to suit peugeot 65mm hole instead of ford's 63.5mm
C_W 3 1 Cars Posted January 9, 2006 16" Nimrods have huge amounts caliper clearance, my big brake kit looked lost with these wheels fitted (not just the extra diameter but the space between the disc/caliper and spokes is huge compared to the original Speedlines. markrnorton 0 Posted January 9, 2006 (edited) Agreed C_W, but it's easier to get slicks in 15" than 16" for racing. Plus i needed a 0 offset with an 8" rim. I dont think Nimrods have this ? (but i may be wrong!). And my brake calipers are exceptionally wide !!!! Edited January 9, 2006 by markrnorton

veloce200 3 Posted January 13, 2006 Has anyone who runs ET0 wheels experienced scrub radius problems such as torque steer/tramlining/wheel fight? The wider track should help but general wisdom is any kind of positive scrub on FWD is bad news?
