Zed 0 Posted January 2, 2006 hi all, you may remember a month or 2 ago i managed to punch a hole in my block/waterpump by missing the spacer from the headbolt... I finally got round to chemical metaling up the hole and replacing the waterpump.. but now the car is running really rough. the car will start and rev to 2k and sit there, when revved the car splutters a bit but does rev roughly... i figure the rough running is a timing issue and the revs rising to 2k an airleak problem... my problem is that I have a Vernier pulley fitted so no timing dowel holes on the cam, how do i figure out if my cam timing is too far advanced or retarded? when i changed the water pump i locked the crank and marked up the cam pulley so it didnt move, i dont understant how the timing could have slipped...could there be a more serious underlying problem? thanks for any help, Phil
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted January 2, 2006 Could be as simple as an air leak, worth checking, but i'd deff check your cam timing again to be sure, do you know the timing figures for the cam?
Zed 0 Posted January 2, 2006 (edited) just bought some easystart and sprayed around all the inlet pipework/manifold and no change. when sprayed into the filter itself the revs drop. - as for the cam, ill dig out whatever paper work i have on it, but from memory it is either a piper or kent Fastroad cam...I have no values for it at all.
