Sejo 0 Posted December 31, 2005 Hi, well, my first post here. (my english isn´t perfekt as my german or bosnian, sorry for mistakes) I got an info from a german peugeot forum... the TB from a citroen xm 2.0i schoud fit whitout big mods (like on the audi or golf TB´s) on a Mi16 intake. (22& bigger than a an standard Mi16 TB). Has anyone tested it yet? Greets Sejo
IvarS 0 Posted January 7, 2006 (edited) I've fitted one of these to my tuned Mi16-engine. The modifications needed are replacing the return springs (with the Mi ones) and the throttle switch won't fit since the 2.0 has a potentiometer instead of the 1.9 switch type. The latter isn't really a problem for me since I run MegaSquirt and had to fit a potentiometer type anyway Edited January 7, 2006 by IvarS
Emmy Seize 8 Posted January 7, 2006 So, appart from the fitting problems - does it have any positive effect on the engine´s performance ? I can remember that swapping throttles was a popular mod on Golf gtis in the 80s and I followed the technical article on 205gtidrivers, but what benefits are actually to be expected on an MI16 ? Cheers, Martin
IvarS 0 Posted January 7, 2006 These are my thoughts on the subject: When I swapped the cams for a regrind profile (264 degrees) allowing let's say 20% more air/fuel mixture into the engine, throttle flow needed to be increased as well to match, or it'll become a bottleneck. On a standard engine there will probably be no power increase whatsoever since cam profile will be the limit of flow through the engine. The XM butterflies are 42mm dia instead of 38mm, the external measurements of the housings are identical!
