North Yorkshire, so I guess you got it done at Bogg Bros. then? How much did it all cost? I'm very interested in this as a novel solution for my running problems :P . Feel free to PM if you prefer

Ive effectively got a stage 3-4 head on my 1.6 and was thinking of getting a decent cam and some carbs, what sort of power is it making, what you revving it to, standard bottom end???

cheers, James.

its 130bhp at wheels, pulls really strong on road, amazing out of corners, yes it was done at bogg bros!!they know what they are doing, the full kit, labour and vat cost a set price of 680 quid!!!well near enough, couple of penniesand 1 or 2 quid, but near enough.lol, stage one head includes port and polish and some tinkering with the valves, not sure exactly!!lol, but dave bogg reckons its more like a stage 2 port and polish!!will have full read out from rollers soon

oh yeas, there is no rev limiter at the mo which is a bit scary lol, bottom end is standard so i really dont wonna be going over 7k

£680? Wow, probably fair but still a fair bit more than I expected :)

yeah you could get 2nd hand DCOE 40's and inlet for much less than that

If the rolling road is accurate that aint a bad figure for the cost (IMHO) I dont think a 2nd hand set of DCOE's would give you anything near 130 @ the wheels... (or unless we are talking 680 for the carbs)

130 at the wheels is very good for a 1.6!, who made the inlet??

Remember you get everything needed to get the car running for that money. Including a full set up and r/r session. In fact i think its pretty much a drive in drive out conversion.

Sorry, just thought i'd take a moment to laugh at you worrying about money ;):P

I don't think he ever said it was a 1.6??

130hp at the wheels from a 1.9 is none too shabby either, as that would be a good 20hp over standard.

sorry guys, but she is a 1.6!!!!i think what gives it such a great amount of bhp is the cam, dont forget that the 285 cam is NOT the fast road cam,it is the one up,designed for use in rally.just wait till i get her on the rollers again and i will scan a copy of the printout on to here

If that 130hp@wheels is an accurate figure, then that is damned impressive for a 1.6 and makes that £680 seem like a bit of a bargain :)

Do you know what revs it's making peak power at now out of interest, as I'd assume the powerband has been shifted quite a way up with that cam you're running?
