Blocking Hole Where Dizzy System Was

Recommended Posts

Mad Professor

Hi All.

I am allmost at the stage of my MS-II build to remove the standard dizzy system and replace it with the EDIS-4 System.

When the standard dizzy system is removed will it just leak oil, meaning i will need some kind of plug or cap?

And if so what do I need?

Thanks.

If it's like the 16v head there should elready be an oil seal to stop any leakage :D

Anthony

Get the thermostat housing from a 8v engine that had a coilpack as standard (XU10's, most XU7's etc) - roughly the same but it's blanked off where the dizzy was, and instead has somewhere you can bolt your coilpack to, so killing two birds with one stone :D

8v head needs a cap if dizzy is removed. I made mine of aluminium, just cut a piece and bolt it there, using gasket seal to make sure it doesn't leak.

Anthony's idea is the best, thats what I used on mine.

I might have one spare if you're interested, you'd just need the gasket from Peugeot.

I got the phase1 on my engine atm.

I take it the 4 outer bolts holes are for the coil pack.

Yes, the thing thats not obvious in trhat picture (thanks to the colour of the tiles on the step) is that the coilpack one has a solid centre where the dizzy used to fit unlike the other two.

You don't happen to know if the pug and ford coil packs have the same spacing for the bolts?

You're not wrong, I don't.

won't have to worry about the original coil pack bolt hole lining up if you can just use another termo plastic layer/bracket to spaceout the alu. housing and the coil pack. so the termo plastic bracket will have holes matching the housing to mount on one side and the other being to mount the hole from the coil pack all offset. i have to do this because the heat from the cylinder head was chewing up the coil pack when directly mounted.
