Goodwood Door Strip Inserts, I Cannot Buy Them From Peugeot....

Recommended Posts

m.i-man

As the title says, Peugeot no longer stock any of the chrome inserts found in the 309 GTi Goodwood door strips. Or bumpers. :P

I did actually buy a kit from ecosse for the car due to this problem, which will be readvertised in the new year. But I have decided to have the bumpers and door strips smoothed, here's the pics so far...

If they attach to the doors ion the same way as the 205 then smoothed will be hard to fit as the clips that hold the strips on also secure the trims.

The 309 has seperate clips for the trim to secure to the car. Well on a ph.2 anyway. A ph.1 is different as they were originally stuck onto the car according to a guy a Peugeot. :)

The bumpers and door strips will be sprayed Anthracite, and have a satin lacquer to make them look different but almost standard. (If that makes sense?). :P

Will post pics in the new year when the car has had it's respray.

The four (now 3) in my area, plus one up near London. From them all saying the same thing, I'd assume that they no longer have any of them. After all, it is the ltd edition, of which there are no extra seats made for etc so numbers of parts are ltd.

if theyre like the 205 ones, you should be able to buy the red ones and sand the red paint off, then lacquer the shiny stuff underneath

Could you not get a chrome strip from a base 205/309 bumper and cut that to fit? They're plentiful in scrappies, and that's how a few people on here have made chrome inserts for their 205's on the cheap...

I did have a look at the rare ones I have found in the scrapyards. All have the same problem, which comes with age I guess.

Are the 205 inserts different to the 309's then? Because the 309 inserts are made up of 3 layers. The base being the black plastic, second being the colour (chrome) and third being the see through section which lifts and creates the problem.

Not quite sure how you would sand back the red if these are how they're made? :D

the 309 ones are a different size (thickness) to the 205 ones, i guess you could make the gaps on the bumpers smaller to take the 205 ones but i wouldnt think it would be worth it

Bumpers looking good. Makes the car look more smooth and modern. I hope you're putting the foglights back in as I think the 309 looks wrong without them!

I must admit I'm aiming to keep the chrome trims on my Goodwood, (however if you've got the smooth 3 door panels, I could be persuaded to smooth the sides a tad...) and all I'm going to do to bring them back to life (as mine have corroded too) is remove them and cover them in either some chrome or brushed effect vinyl. Nice and cheap, easy to do, and easy to replace if anything goes wrong, or you fancy a colour change! Doesn't take long on the 309 once you've popped all the trim out, simply clean, stick it down onto the vinyl, trim round it and stick the vinyl down properly. Then it's just a case of fitting it back into the mouldings without scratching the vinyl where it'll be visible. Piece of p!ss really!
