The parts catalog seems to indicate that the pistons are dished...

I don't get this at all... I defintly stripped apart both turbo engines and they both had flat top pistons. I wonder if citroen changed the design for any reason? As i stripped apart a 605 and 406 engine.

I really think there must be 2 versions.

The XU10J2 N/A pistons I had a look at some days ago definately had much lesser dish than the ones on the picture.

The 4 (!) 2.0T engines I stripped (or helped stripping) all had flattops. I assume the above are from a 2.0 XSi engin though. How low do these sit down the bore?

offtopic: those liners seem really badly rusted, I assume he's overboring the engine?

black-mi16 haave you picture of the combustion chamber on the head?

I wonder if a 306 xsi engine has been turbocharged? and passed off as turbo engine.

Hey friends,

I can get a head from Citroen XM 2L 16V with 132 hp (enginecode is RFV). Is that the same head like the 150/152hp engine?

Can I use this head on the turbo-block or I´ve to buy one from the 150/152hp engine?

How big are the valves? And what about cam-timing (good for turbo-applications with not so much overlap?)

Thanks!

Jan

The RFV head is similar to the RFS head (the 167bhp engine), but the valves are a bit smaller.

The cam timing is very suited to turbo applications. Infact Gerben from this forum is using the exact same head on his 205 1.9-16V turbo

sounds good, I can get it you 80 EUR´s from a Citroen-driver (think he didn´t know what he sells :D) with 120.000 km with cams and no damages... I think I´ve to buy it hehe ;)

Thanks Hilgie!

Hi friends,

I just opened a XU10J2TE spare-engine. This engine didn´t have got flat-top-pistons. They have a big dish in the middle of piston.

enginecode is RGX. At my drivingcar is a engine with RGY-Code. Is the difference between the engines the pistons (RGY has flattops, RGX has got the pistons with a dish?).

Has andybody a picture of the flattop-pistons + engine?

Cheers

I'm pretty sure that the pistons is the difference between the enginecodes.

I've seen several dished versions but never a flat top one.

yes you are right. Just read it in a french-forum. All RGY-engines have flat-tops (141 hp here in Germany), and all RGX-engines have big dish in the middle of piston (147 hp engine here in Germany).

Cheers
