About the rear brakes, I'm now going to use front discs from 405 Mi16, which is 266x20mm in size.

I made myself some caliper spacer-brackets in autocad, taht I got lasercut today:

Is Brakeworld wrong? It quotes 405 Mi16 discs as 27mm high.

Does your set-up allow enough clearance from the back of the disc to where the caliper carrier is bolted to the back of the trailing arm? I assume that it must for the discs to be bolted on.

I need to grind away approx 1mm off the original caliper mounting-bracket. Then they'll fit straight onto the hub.

The discs are certainly 27mm high.. 266mm diameter and 20mm thick...

Kristian, if you want pads suitable for the rear calpier piston (with the locating tab) but thicker, those from the BX are the same width & size as the front bendix pads iirc.

Ok, but isn't it easiest just to get some from the 1.6 gti fronts? Or arent they suitable for the pistons in the calipers?

1.6 GTI pads should be fine just thougth I'd let you know incase you wanted to make use of the normal pad locating tab on the back to prevent the piston turning.

Hopefully you have been hard at work making some sort of automatic system that cuts in when you park and swings the rear beam down and out and into full view. Be a shame to hide it, looks great.

Any chance of getting the dimensions of the spacer plate you had made up to move the caliper further out and back?

Actually it is! :D

Well it's still missing a paint-job, front windscreen and such small things, but it's more or less done.

I'll make a thread under projects about it soonish when I get some time.

Here's some pics of it.
