Anyone With 1.6 With Twin 40's

Guest ashnicholls

if i only use those emulsions to run it in, until i get it rolling roaded, ie stay under 3,000rpm to run it in for 500 miles, do you think it will do any damage, i just dont want to get some new emulsion tubes then get it rolling roaded then find they say it needs different ones again.

because thats a big waste of money.

what will having Idling Jets = 55F8 do?

cheers

Ok so got the carbs running.

And got it set up by some one that knows what they are doing.

It has 32mm chokes with jets to suit.

Just to run the car in.

Now the car is run in.

So I changed the oil, and took it for a proper drive.

Now it has a flat spot at around 4,000rpm (I think have not got a rev counter at the moment.)

I thought it was flattening out then. But when my dad took it for a drive he said it did come back on agen it was just a flat spot.

So, what could be causing this. Does it need 34 chokes, or is some other jetting.

Cheers

I don't mean to hijack your post mate and I hope you get your flat spot sorted.

But if anyone else here is running dellorto 40's on their 1.9 8v, could you quickly post your jet settings and i'll be on my way :)

Best of luck

I am not bothered but I think its best starting your own thread, as yours will be a long one too.

As you will have people asking engine spec. Asking why you have not put 45's on a 1.9.

Now you need to go on the rollers, use real time mixture readings to see if your flat spot is fuel or ign related.

My guess is fuel and you need to tip the fuel curve balance one way or another with the emulsion tubes.

If its weak top end you can pull more fuel in with bigger pump jets but be carefull not to go too far.

The 34mm chokes are not always a good idea on 1.6 engines but people use them to good effect on some cars its best to use the correct size carb for the application, but money often prevents this and turning out on the lathe can cause problems. Be warned!

No probs Ash.

My answer is simple though, My 1.9 is my daily driver so 40's suit perfectly

Cheers, Craig

I think its pump jets, as it had 40's in before, but now I have DCOM's it has 35's

im trying to find out whether the DCOM jets fit the DCOE's

as the pump jets would not go in properly.

Cheers Ash
