Central Locking

Recommended Posts

Guest QUENT

I've done a search about this but i cant see anything that quite covers my problem.

Basically i have non-remote central locking, which commands all the motors to move quite nicely but fails to lock the passenger door.

When trying to lock the car the passenger side motor will whir and the interior press down lock thing will move slightly - but it never locks.

I'm fed up of running round locking the doors seperately!

Has anyone had this happen before - Any likely causes?

Cheers, Gaz

Yeh sounds like a duff motor to me mate, just get one from your local scrappy that should solve the problem.

Monkey: yea I should have mentioned i tried that...maybe i wouldnt sound like such a div now B)

But pushing it down only meets a lot of resistance and never actually locks the car.... so i'm thinking its more a mechanical thing rather than the motors being no good as it sounds just as good as the other two

Just put the drivers one on and see if that fixes it if so its obv the motor. Check all the mechanism also.

Give the contacts a good clean & squirt a bit of WD40 on the contacts, worked on mine & that was the same as in You couldnt lock it manually from inside.

DITTO ABOVE.

A quick spray of WD40 down the 'door locking motor spindle thingy' sorted this out for me

I bet you any money that it's not the motors.

I had a similar problem and I swapped the motors over with no benefit.

It will be the rather crude rods which connect the motor to the locks. Liberally spary them all with oil and WD40. They are a bit of a pain to get to. You'll have to remove the plastic cover next to the lock. Once you've oiled everything up, repeatly lock and unlock by hand until it all moves smoothly.

i have a similar issue, in that the drivers side all works fine, but the boot or passenger doors do not lock, or the motor's engage. Either by using the key in the drivers door or by using the fob.

Anyone care to narrow down the possible causes ?

cheers

Closing relay? is that the long black box attached with two nuts or another relay? my central locking is doing the same.
