Ticking Noise From Engine/exhaust

exactly, so if it goes away you'll know theres a leak.

 

This sounded like it was coming from the exhaust too on the 1.6 It was only after around £150 in labour and replaced bits did we find the inlet gasket was knackered.

 

I am merely offering you a suggestion based on past experience. BTW a inlet gasket is a hell of a lot cheaper than a new manifold or damaged exhaust valve!

Thats cool mate, I really appreciate the advice. There are so many nuances to a 205, I've learnt it's never what you think is wrong anyway

It be the opposite to the inlet valve........

You have 8 valves (4 inlet, 4 exhaust)

oh.. THOSE ones, I thought there was another valve somewhere in the exhaust, I was well confused for a minute there!!
