Sicknote 0 Posted February 16, 2004 How long do we think that a turbocharger should last on a TT engine? Mine has done 67000 miles, and as the engine has to come out anyway, I was wondering if it would be worth replacing the turbo. I suppose that if there is no exhaust smoke (fron the turbo), there is enough boost pressure, and no mechanical noise, then it should be ok, shouldn't it? Smudge 0 Posted February 16, 2004 Those figures seem about right, so you'd probably get about another year out of it depending on driving style. Just don't try linking an Anti-lag system up. Sicknote 0 Posted February 16, 2004 Thanks for that, lads. I suppose that it's just about the mileage where it MIGHT be worth changing the turbo. I have just acquired the car, so I don't know how the previous owners treated it. Like you say, the oil changes would be critical. I might send it in to Turbo Technics for a re-con, oil seals, 360 bearing as suggested, I just don't fancy £500 odd for a new one! What failure signs should I look out for?
