Hi, if your running 1.6 wheels 14" then you can go 50mm on reasonable profile tyres but this wont do the standard shocks much good. If you do this id avice uprating them. I run 15" speedlines on my XS, ideally you want 195/45 tyres which is what i have and i dont have any problems with rubbing atall its lowered 40mm. If you cant afford these then 195/50s will do but will rub with people in the back. If you went lower than 40-45mm some arch work would deffinetly be needed and could prove to be exspensive, so basically no lower than 40-45 if your running 15"/ 195/45s.

i have 15"s on mine and my rear arches arent very happy at all! i think some XSs can take 15"s fine and be lowered a bit, but i think it depends on the condition of the rear beam, as mine cant be lowered at all. Im going to get the rear arches trimmed and flared soon aswell hopefully, but need to get a few quotes first. Ill let u know what happens! ed

My Pug xs is lowered 60mm on spax rsx, rear torsion bar also dropped 60mm.

It has 1.9s and does not scrape what so ever (now the back seats have been removed!)

what tyres u running on that?

205xsmuppet - one thing you ought to bear in mind is you should always have the back slightly lower than the front, to make it grip better.

15s with 195/45 tyres, theres no way of running it low without it rubbing the arches are just tooo small, i am going to be raising it as the front is higher now with the new suspension.

On the Gti, lowering the 205 past 35mm or so from standard adversely affects the handling. It makes the wishbones work at funny angles, puts extra strain on the driveshafts and leaves the rear end with v.little suspension travel.

I don't know how much higher the XS is than the Gti, but you don't want to lower it too much if you care about the handling.

hiya Guys

Just a question is 60mm gonna be to low for the Humps? :D

I dont want my car scraping the floor :(

So we should say about 15" Alloys then for a Pug205 Xs :D

Doesnt it look wired having ur front end up more then the back end guys ? :D

has anyone got a picture of lowered pug more at the back then the front

You will have to take speedramps slowly, coz the lowering suspension will be so hard that itll hurt to go over them fast. My car ^^^ is pretty low, but i hardly ever ground it (never on speedramps, only now and again in s*itty car parks or on farm tracks.

The reason you want to have the back lower than the front, is so when you lift of in the middle of the corner, the rear suspension will absorb it, rather than letting go which would cause the car to spin and probably roll.

id say 30mm front, 35mm rear would probably look fine. is my xs shagged then, as i cant possibly lower my car at the back even with 195/45's? mind u the fact i have about 9 stones worth of ICE in the back probably doesnt help :S i literally have about 20mm between the top of the tyre and the arch lip, if that! ed

I am running my pug on 195/45s on 1.9s with 60mm drop both ends. Drives like a dream with two people in but forget big ice or back passengers!!! I have also had minor problems with the exhaust system hitting the ground on large bumps/mounds etc which made the gasket between the exhaust downpipe/ maifold start blowing. However, when driven on decsent roads (which are quite hard to find) the car handles like on rails. :D

Not necessarily it depands on brand and profile of tyre.

My old xs with 195,55,15 goodyear eagles rubbed front and back without being lowered.

Maybe a poor rear beam allows the back to be lowered, the change in camber helping the wheels fit under the arches?
