Alan_M 66 1 Cars Posted February 13, 2004 Looking on the Pug Parts CD, the 405Mi16 oil pump has the same part No. as the 205 petrol XU's. Part No. 1001/56 Can anyone confirm they are the same?
Mattsav 1 Posted February 13, 2004 Alan, I've just cross referenced that part number and my pumps will fit!! It just doesn't list it in the main part of the catalouge. Can anyone else confirm this????

Alan_M 66 1 Cars Posted February 13, 2004 Matt Whereabouts are the numbers as i've got my Mi pump in front of me!
Jim 1 Posted February 13, 2004 Yes they are the same
eddie_1.9 1 Posted April 10, 2006 Are they def the same? I ask as the Mi16 (2 litre anyway, not sure about the 1.9 alloy block?) has hydraulic tappets so doesn't it need a higher pressure pump?
Mattsav 1 Posted April 10, 2006 The 1.9 8v & 1.9 i16 are the same pump. The 2.0 Mi16 has a different pulley
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted April 10, 2006 Yes they are the same. But I tend to fit the GTi6 pump now many due to having a keyed drive wheel, I don;t like the clamp together idea and the pumps are cheaper than the 1.9's for some reason now
petert 586 Posted April 11, 2006 The 1.9 8v & 1.9 i16 are the same pump. The 2.0 Mi16 has a different pulley all the pumps are they same, except the 2L pump which has two M6 holes for the chain gaurd and a stiffer 8 bar spring. The difference is the drive sprocket. The 2L engines have a 26 tooth sprocket. I mix and match all the time. My latest trick is to upgrade the 1.9L engines with a 26T sprocket, 2L chain and 8 bar 2L spring. eddie_1.9 1 Posted April 11, 2006 Interesting... this chain guard on the 2.0L pump, why is it needed if the others don't have it? can it be removed with no ill effects?
petert 586 Posted April 11, 2006 It stops the chain whipping up the oil. All in the aid of improving oil surge problems commonly found in the XU9's.
