Can A Passenger Seat Be Used As Drivers Seat?

Recommended Posts

Can a passenger seat be used (with decent bolster...) to replace the drivers seat? Can the seat forward/backward wheel thingy be swapped to the other side and then the drivers subframe bolted on?

There is also the seat belt clip isnt there, I think it would be too much hassle. What is usually done is to cut the bolster off the passenger seat and fix it to the drivers seat. Might be worth doing a search.

I've read hear somewher that it is, but can take alot of patience, but just think how much it would be worth a perfect drivers seat.

hey

yeah you can swap 'em over, i did it while i had my drivers seat repaired. i took the passengers seat off and put it on the drivers side frame and used it for a week or two, only issue is that the turny knob to adjust the back angle is on the other side (which isnt easily changed over, a bit of cutting and welding would be required). it works fine though.

Ah not what i wanted to hear - cutting and welding for the rotory knob being on the wrong side. Ill leave it for now..

Cheers guys

Its quite simple tbh! All you need to do is to swap over the subframes and take off the recliner plastic bit. This allows you to lift the seats forward but also to adjust the height.

If you want to replace the bolser, which ive just done recently, thats also pretty simple. If you look underneath the bolsers there are loads of little metal clips. If these are removed with pliers etc then its a case of pulling out the old one and replacing it with a new 1 or decent 1 from the scrappy.

Hope this helped.

James.

Or you can buy a seat from a country where are in the "right" side of the car hehe.

But shipment may be quite expensive...
