Rev counter reading high!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

After some advice. 1987 1.9L (ph1). Completely stock. Running well.

Rev counter has just started to read high intermittently. I’ll be driving around with it reading accurately, then for a few minutes it’ll read about 1000rpm higher than it should. Then it’ll settle back down to being accurate.

Any suggestions as to what to check?

Many thanks!

I'd check the PCB for cold joints.

Hi, thanks. Do you mean the ECU?

SRDT

Not the engine ECU, the PCB on the back of the rev counter.

Only a few 205 are taking engine speed from the ECU and those are not GTIs.

As SRDT says. PCB of the revcounter. The revcounter is pretty easy to disassemble from the cluster.
