205 3Door Base Model to GTI 1:1 Replica

Hello there,

I have a base model 205. Chassis-wise it's my understanding that both the base and GTI models are exactly the same abeith from the exception of the oddly egg-shaped rear wheel arches (in order to fit 15" wheels and trims) and wings.

Since it's a European model, the wings being Phase 1 or Phase 2 don't have any differences as I don’t have side indicators unless, correect me if i'm wrong.

I still have the GTI as a donor, but the wings and rear arches are in very poor condition just good enough to use as templates for the holes and cuts.

My question is: Is it possible to modify the wings and rear arches from a base model into a 1:1 GTI replica, or should I get new wings and rear quarter panels instead?

Front wings are easy to modify, as you say use your old ones to make a template. The rear arches a bit more involved but if you can weld and cut perfectly possible. I certainly would not start cutting the entire rear quarters off the car.
