205 CTI 1.6 exhaust

Recommended Posts

Laurent

Hi, I'm about to replace the entire exhaust line on my 1989 CTI 1.6, from the manifold output.

Before I take it all apart, is there some kind of seal / gasket between the manifold end and the exhaust pipe? I wasn't sold one with the exhaust despite saying this is everything you need.

And the spring loaded bolts are obviously very rusty. Any advice on how to take them off?

Thank you!

There is a ring on the exhaust manifold that doesn't usually get supplied with a new exhaust unless you ask for it.

Hard to find now but Peugeot used to do a full kit that was well priced (over priced now) which included all the bolts & springs etc too, part # 1798.80.

The last time I took an exhaust off with the bolts rusted up, I knocked the top hat through the manifold with a drift rather than spend ages trying to get mole grips to hold the top of the bolt & undo the nut.  They only have a thin flange & you replace them with new anyway.

Thank you very much. I’ll see if I can get the ring from the local company which supplied the exhaust.

Following on this exhaust discussion I need to put on my new downpipe incl. catalytic converter, before taking the car to get stainless middle and back pipes fitted.
I have looked, but it doesn't appear anyone makes a stainless exhaust manifold to down pipe fixing kit. Just want to make it easier to replace next time (current ones rusted of course)

Thanks Bremar.
