Recommended Posts

Autodoc say its this one

i can skeptical, as it shows its compatible to all the models and the 1.9 had more splines

this one has 25 splines, but Autodoc says its the incorrect one

you want to go for a better brand than those, always try and go for a tier1 manufacturer where possible, i.e a company that supplies the vehicle manufacturers

for a 1.9 gti with 82mm bearing this SNR/NTN would have been fitted in the factory.

meyle is a well regarded brand, as is Febi.

Stay away from the FEBI flange they carry, I replaced mine recently and the taper on the inside didnt match OE driveshafts costing me a set of wheel bearings.

Thanks for the replies.. Ive added SNR and Meyle to the basket.

Random unrelated question to above - but still hub related.

Can a base model bearing and flange be fitted to a 1.6 GTi hub casting ? - to get the same offset as the base model / 1.9 GTi but using the 1.6 casting.

thanks

SRDT

The 1.6 hub carrier is a regular one, the hub itself is the only special part.

yep, I did that

as mentioned by SRDT, the hub carrier for base model and 1.6GTi is the same,

both take the 72mm bearing hub

I wasn't happy with my 1.6Gti hub and brake (bendix) setup so

pressed out the deep offset 1.6Gti hub, pressed in a base model hub

and put on 1.9Gti vented disks and Girling calipers
