jupiterroom 0 1 Cars Posted 22 hours ago (edited) I think the answer will be replace, but having never done any kind of spot welding, figured I'd ask. I think the car had a shunt here in it's lifetime, so the previous repair has obviously failed. Part seems readily available from the usual places - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222099627422?_skw=205+gti+front+panel+side&itmmeta=01J9GQJB3T5AWW1VRNDB94139H&hash=item33b62b5d9e:g:pvgAAOSwfz9bYwuT&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKmNYGgdkuCaTTCX535SSFE5Ne629w6jY5D24KO5iFN1NNTDAXxRV7vLMgZ%2FD7ws3SQ%2B8CbBfb7CcQkZ2Yh3SFQHCu2Nb%2FR11RDmp%2BC6i4EHjSCqgu1RNjYbsJPXyzcGjLStaRnIWwWi7kNPJyDPRLRjDi%2Bh2o%2BqPr1prwJ34xglSXNHeERyuzBcxXIbBKN9AoI9eP9RsThR5DT3KgsdAZvjL5vBRjGhJjExZyw%2F9%2B%2FdhEj3FYvkT%2Fp9SD%2BznLeERbH5lk6X7oBkrHSJZrHO%2BnAjxOTv6FcC%2BhXU4Vup0ADLhA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABFBMgrLJl8xk Edited 22 hours ago by jupiterroom
Leslie green 105 Posted 21 hours ago (edited) That looks like it needs replacing ,there are not that many spotwelds hoñding it on need drilled out with a proper spotweld drill ,you wiñl see them if you give it a run over with a wirewheel in the drill but if its been replaced before it will not be as easy removed and will need the welds grinding through.A powerfile can be good for this as it does less damage to the panels behind. petert 581 Posted 20 hours ago Definitely replace. Buy the correct size spot removal drill and go for it. Don’t skimp on quality, else get someone to do it.
