Won't start! Help! (Wincanton)

CTi been running really well, lovely 300 mile drive from Poitiers to Dieppe on Monday. Tuesday fine, go to Aylesbury, continue on ... stopped to fill with Shell V Power at Wincanton. Started fine, but stalled as I exited forecourt. Since then ... nothing. Spark at plugs, tachymetric relay working, checked points are closing, tried spare also. Can hear pump running.

Swapped ignition amplifier, coil, king lead, distibutor lead and AFM ... no difference. Took filler cap off in case blocked ... no difference. Spins over well, as if it's trying to start, but just doesn't!

Any thoughts? Need it running desperately, if anyone near Wincanton can help please do, would be really grateful ... also suggestions as to local garages that might have the knowledge to diagnose/fix.

Are you certain you put petrol in it not diesel by accident ?  Check timing belt see if its broken or some loose and jumped a few teeth or not after that not sure , if it has a spark none of that electrical stuff will be faulty

Hi,

Made that mistake years ago in France, translation problem .... but sure it was V Power.

Oh bloody hell ffs ... just checked the bill ... V-Power DSL.

I didn't know there was a diesel version!

On the plus side ... thank you hugely for solving my problem, I can't tell you how much grief you've saved, not to mention expense of getting it trailered to a garage, labour etc.

Now just have to hope the petrol station know someone who can syphon/pump it out ... hopefully with some payment for my annoyingly full of petiel!

Incidentally, did consider timing belt, but if that had broken, pistons would be noisily hitting valves.

No worries its an easy mistake to make and I thought the most likely as it stopped right after filling .
