Motronic 3.1 Air Inlet Pipe Clash

Recommended Posts

Hallo! A small question if you don't mind. Has anyone fitted the Citroen ZX 1.9 M3.1 air inlet (from the air filter to the throttle body, replacing the AFM) in an engine bay with PAS? As the reservoir clashes with the plug for the connector to the air flow sensor. Can I solvent weld a new threaded boss further up the plastic pipe (it appears to be plastic rather than rubber like the 205 items either side of the AFM). I was initially thinking of repositioning the PAS tank, but once the battery is in, with the relay box there isn't much wriggle room at all!

I note the 1.9 Volcane didn't have this problem as the 'bay was a little wider, by the looks of it, and they relocated the PAS reservoir next to the shock tower/wheel arch.

Why not cut the connector on the sensor and run two wires with a new plug at the end?

Fit a 90º elbow. Big bubbles, no trouble.

I'll try and carefully strip down the plastic plug to expose the wires and try and solder on a couple of cables to extend the plug. It transpires that the Bosch replacements are about 15quid so I can risk cocking one up..

Thanks all!

Yes the ZX plastic pipe won't cost you that, and first you need to find one.
