205 phase-1 Blower Resistor Issue

Recommended Posts

Nithy

Hi guys.. I got a 1988 205 CTI Phase1 with slider controls for the blower. I replaced the resistor with a new one, replaced the slide control switch circuit board with a new one. Everything seems to working ok, as in when the slider is full on blower is full on, slide off blower is off.

Apart from when ONLY when I have the ignition on, blower switch on Off position, I still feel the resistor getting hot. When I off the ignition it goes back to being cold as expected. What this means is even if the slide is off and when I am driving the car, the resistor is going to be hot. When the car is switched off, its fine.

Is this normal? for phase-1's?

Thanks

nithy

I had a new ph1 back in the 80's.

The fan never truly stopped: even in the minimum position the fan ran slowly, so not surprised the resistor  gets hot.

With the new dash on later models there was a proper off position.
