Found the problem, one side being utter s*ite when using handbrake, ordered a set of first line and see how long these last.

The correct cables are handed too. Usually the cable with 3 sleeves is passenger side

If I remember correctly, the drum and disc cables are different and different lengths left and right

That's correct - easiest way to tell drum and disk handbrake cables apart is that the drum ones feature a spring at the drum-brake end, whereas disk-brake ones do not.

While I've not used them on a 205 specifically, I have had terrible problems with Pagid 306 handbrake cables which are a very similar design - I've had two which have been manufactured to the wrong length/spec, and even when I did get a "good" set they both failed within a couple of years.  Maybe I was unlucky, but I've never had problems with any other brand of handbrake cables.

No issues with pagid on 205 for me, but 306 I always stick to trw or ferodo

First line cables installed, fitted no problem and they work perfectly, both seem to apply same force on either side, only time will tell.

If anyones cares my, experiences of maybe 4-5 dozen 205 handbrake cables is as follows.

Firstline have genuine Dura cables in the packets.

Use those.

Pagid drum braked 205 cables are s*ite!

Because the outer plastic jacketing is the wrong plastic and too thin , they tear and graze if You so much as look at them too fiercely. Probably a gramme or two lighter for the Stirling Moss brigade, but they rust and the spiral intermediate layer collapses after 3 years on a real world Yorkshire (salted) road car.

Never used Febi handbrake cables.

Everything Febi I ever used with a plastic or rubber componet in it`s makeup was s*ite.
