Something aboute the boost gauge that came to my mind, if the dimentions are known then maby use a straight fotward picture to make a 3D model, then 3D print a custom enclosure for a «modern» boost Hauge and make a custom dial?

It's a standard 3"1/8 (≃80mm) aircraft instrument, there is probably a 3d model floating around.

Thanks for the offer Cedric, I have been chatting with a T16 owner in France, who has generously provided lots of information including dimensions etc, which I've used to produce my model.

Your replica is very impressive, would you consider making more ? & what will you be using for engine, gearbox etc ?

Don't go too wild with engine torque, the DS/SM/C35 CWP is designed for an engine that run "backwards" so when mated to the XU it won't be as strong as it should.

Lotus had the same problem with the Esprit and today you can find special CWP to correct this but it's not cheap.

Yes, i know this, but my goal is to reach maximum close as original… otherwise, i would have welded frame to a 2020 Rs3 chassis…. for me, the most important is to be as close to the original look…

and peugeot motor, citroen gearbox is the minimum…

but every project have a goal…

pipe frame are very easy to manufacture, only a plasma pipe cutting solution, cheap as 12000€ and you go from step file to pipe cutted… easy…

cutting, bending and welding 1mm steal frame is another way…

your motor /gearbox  solution will work very well, and will give you satisfaction…this is the most important, no mather wat other meaning…

original thing is using autocad… now only Solidworks is visible on every project… and for that, RESPECT…

hello Paul,

Thank you

i have choosen XU9J4 with a T3 turbo,

a Citroen C35 5speed TJ gearbox and 2 Haldex  A3 vr6

quite easy now because i own a complete real 205 T16…

Hi Cedric

Will be doing something similar, but with VW components, as I'm very familiar with them.

I was planned on welding the diff in the gearbox & removing the clutch pack in the rear Haldex & controlling the front Heldex electronically.

Would it be possible for you to contact myself (I'm unable to PM you) as I would be very interested in one of your chassis, if your willing to make another.

You are very lucky in owning an original T16, sadly a dream for me.

Have attached some pictures of my T1 & Will hopefully add a T16 (replica) to my garage one day.

My biggest problem was finding a suitable double wishbone hub (at a sensible price), so have adapted some mk5 golf hubs & will build custom arms to suit.

Have found someone who is making a Haldex clutch delete solution, if of any help.

Welding gearbox diff will be a disaster if you’re out of mud /sand…

you must have slip between front and back…

and using front haldex will ask some questions:

- this clutch is on /off or is analog controled ?

- original is permanent 4x4…

- will this haldex work in reverse position ( oil input inside pump…)

is your gearbox a gti one ?

because gti (benzine gearbox in fact…) will be too short…

do not forget the 1.5 reduction….

better would be using a diesel gearbox…
