Shaftec shaft too long

Recommended Posts

Put new shaftec shafts in my car as it was all i could find new at the time.

Within a couple of miles the nearside outer CV died. I had 2 spare new CV on the shelf, also shaftec. Sure enough it died in a couple of miles.

Just bought a new SKF shaft and found its an inch shorter compressed or stretched. So i guess the shaftec is an inch longer than spec and the pressure when loaded is killing the CV. You can feel it shake the whole car when steering.

How much longer are 309 shafts, wondering if thats what it is?

AFAIK it's approximately 10mm difference - the figures I've got are as follows:

205 driveshaft length (mm)

RH - 840

LH - 600

309 driveshaft length (mm)

RH - 850

LH - 610

Guessing thats excluding the joints as the figures i have are longer for a nearside, 680 ish i believe from memory

either way makes me think this isnt even a 309 shaft. Was more like 20-25mm longer
