Gsxrmick1984 10 Posted May 22, 2022 Last year I sold my base model 205 which I had looking pretty much like a euro rallye minus the arches which I had but hadn't fit. I sold it to concentrate on my gti. I thought that without a 205 to drive It would push me to get the gti done. Anyway a couple of years later and it's still parked in the same spot. So when this xsara vts powered gentry came up in the for sale section fairly local to me I was very tempted.
Gsxrmick1984 10 Posted May 22, 2022 It came up on my wife's birthday so I had the day off. Kids were at school and we had planned to go out for dinner. Luckily for me she is pretty laid back and was happy to cancel our plans so I could go look at another toy for me. I went to look and it was pretty good other than a few rough bits on the body. My favourite 205 of the past was my gti after I fitted an mi16 engine. I've always wanted another mi16 or gti6 but good engines or donors are rarely available so the easiest option for me was to buy one already done. The chap I bought it from was a mechanic like me. He converted it himself and was selling it due to retirement and a lack of storage. I bought it and picked it up a few days later.
Gsxrmick1984 10 Posted May 22, 2022 It made it home in horrendous rain which is always a plus with a 205. will update this through the week when I have some spare time with some of the work and some pictures of what I've done so far.

Plan was to get it looking like a sorrento gti. One of my favourite colour 205s
Gsxrmick1984 10 Posted May 23, 2022 There were some bits of poor paint on it which stood out so I had these painted. The door had a dent and scratch below the door lock
Gsxrmick1984 10 Posted May 23, 2022 The car was basically a gentry on the exterior but bumper inserts had been painted red and it had xsara vts alloys on it. I wanted to make it look like a gti so had to change a few things. I had some 1.9 alloys lying around so I got them power coated. Cheap enough at cas coatings and a big difference for £
Gsxrmick1984 10 Posted May 23, 2022 Fitted the 1.9 gti decals to the quarter badges.. you can hardly tell they're not straight when on the car
Gsxrmick1984 10 Posted May 31, 2022 I changed the rear exhaust box as it had a different silencer on to make it quiet. Big exhausts and sub woofer were my thing 20 years back so I don't mind noisey cars.
Gsxrmick1984 10 Posted May 31, 2022 Along with the rear quarter panel badges I wanted to fit the panel to the bottom of the tailgate with gti badge. I had to borrow my grey panel from my gti and will hopefully come across one in the future. I had to dye it black and with a bit of a trim fitted a gti 16 badge. Gsxrmick1984 10 Posted May 31, 2022 The suspension was pretty high as can been seen in the first pics. I love the look of a lowered 205 gti so decided to lower it with some parts I already had saved from another car to get the look I wanted. Did the rear end first incase I couldn't get it apart. Torsion bars were seized in the radius arm end so lowered it the "bodge" way. Worked ok for me and fitted the 1.9 wheels while putting it back together. Gsxrmick1984 10 Posted May 31, 2022 Just had to lower the front and I would be happy with how the exterior was looking. Looks like the front end is jacked up on the ramp before lowering. Really happy with how it's looking now.

credowan 15 1 Cars Posted June 3, 2022 Lovely work mate it’s really coming on nicely. £80 for the wheels to be done is a great price If finish is good joys of living down south it would be that a wheel if not more for a good job I imagine, might pop X 5 speed lines in the car when next visiting friends in Leeds. Time to enjoy the car now mate Gary

Not sure what the colour was. He just had a choice of 2 silver's so I chose the one that looked the most like the original.
