can I repair alloy and still use tyre after kerbing

maybe this is a no brainer but I just needed a general confirmation opinion, it's not for a pug 205 but general car chat 

ford fiesta zetec s kerbed the alloy front from the inside 

 

questions:-

1. i) anyway I can bend the alloy back? heat up ? jack? or special equipment needed? 

ii)worth taking to a alloy wheel shop?

 

2. ok so the tyre seems ok ish except 

I have this pile of rubber on the inside seems to have come off one side just on the shoulder

it's not really really bad can add more photos 

 

risk of blow out i guess now the wall is weakened a bit 

 

I didnt realise the tyre went flat and did maybe 1 mile then realised 

 

I guess its better to be safe than sorry so this is a no brainer &might be cheaper in the end just to buy new second hand alloy new tyre and start a fresh wiser 

 

I have got the manual tyre changer at home so at least I can fit the tyre myself 

tyre came off more easily than usual due to rim being bent. 

 

really nice tyre too yokohama. £90 buying new self + £50 alloy

Alloy wheel refurb Place will be able to sort that easily enough, and for what it costs for another tyre compared to what might happen with a blow out, best bet is to fit a new tyre. Hope that helps.

ordered the replacement tyre after the message- got it this morning-wow that was fast - as pic yeah looks much better inside also great price and that delivery time was awesome so there was no delay or waiting ages for a new tyre so being able to get the tyre that easily and thinking about it more a blow out using the old one not worth the risk 

 

ok then just got to find an alloy wheel shop or might buy alloy if any on the same website as got tyre

If you buy one new wheel you will end up getting 4 because it will make the others look bad lol. At least this way you've got no worries of anything like a blow out.

whilst certainly repairable, as those wheels are so plentiful I'd be more inclined to just get an used replacement.

bought this one as a back up in case the old one cant be repaired- still looking for alloy wheel repair place local. 

trying to do this between working hence taking long 

 

this one is the best I could get on ebay as pictured. next day delivery. weirdly enough this is the only one listed

is there anywhere better I should be looking?

 

(lesson 1 for me - the old tyre on the rim was also run on flat so when I levered off the tyre all the bits went everywhere LoL next time use a dust sheet) 

 

only thing now is this one the face is really scuffed - been front face kurb-ed cosmetically only though its sound structurally no bends etc 

 

not sure how to go about tarting it up - needs cosmetic repairs to the face?

Ill add a couple photo close up 

 

any further advice also be great

If your wheel is clean on the face I would still go with a local wheel specialist, I don't think there would be much difference in cost for a repair over getting a second hand wheel, plus you know the condition of your wheel, I think my local company is £50 plus VAT for a rough idea on cost.

Indeed , there's very skillful people who can make wonders with alu. wheels .. back in the days , had one here locally , at the time was an old man with gray hair and glasses and that one was able to "stitch up" alu. wheel broken in three pieces like pro ! (was 13' alu. wheel from my R 5GTT)

 

Nowadays , there's even spec. machines for repairing broken alu. wheels .

 

With regards to "cosmetic" scuffs and tears on the outside of the wheel , clean up/de-grease with Acetone or similar , prep the area with 40-60grt. sanding paper (needs to be a bit "rough" for the epoxy to stick better/stronger) and fill up the scuffs/tears with 2pack epoxy metal .. leave it to harden/settle .. then you can sculpt/work on it with sanding paper or mini grinder with various grinding wheels , once done spray with silver paint and it'll be like new .

now looking at it again see it's more than just cosmetic which I wrongly said. this looks like a bad buy now. going take more to repair than I thought. ok thanks though will follow your instructions thanks

Nothing severe from what i can see ... not weakened structurally either .. it'll be nice and easy repair with epoxy metal .

 

Give it a go , and see what happens .
