TPS Position Omex 600

Hi everyone! Got some questions i would like to have some advising!

 

 So, as some of you all know, I fitted a Omex600 ECU and loom in my 205 1.6 GTI , and i have a bit of a hard time fitting my TPS sensor in my original Throtle body , i bought one from a 405 2.0 MI16 , a 205 lover mate of mine told me that it would be the one more suitable for my application. Nevertheless , it has some differences , its a potentiometer like its required for this ECU , it fit nicely in the original TB shaft , but it does not bolt straight on and its not ment to work on the same offset of the original TB, i tried to mount it that way but, it would not make the reading of the butterfly when fully opened, so i started a process of making a fitting in order to make this one work.

 

Will the mounting position of this sensor make a diference on his readings? And in idling? There are photos attached to this topic in order to have a better understanding of the situation, there is one of them that shows the original TPS switch atached in the TB offset.

zx 1.9 motronic would bolt straight on fyi.

position of the sensor is important, as you either risk having the sensor hold the throttle open, or going past the top of the sensor and damaging it.

You mean one like this one? If so , i allready have one , but , it wont fit on the original TB shaft. Its not ment for the D shape of the shaft

Just as i tought , is there any way i can fit the one i presented at the topic? I saw somewhere in here that it is possible but requires some impecable improvising skills but it is not impossible to do , since i allready spend some euros on sensors , if somehow it is possible to fit it without any issue that would be a great help!

 I allready tried it with the one shown in the topic , and there is a position where besides it is not bolted on he manages to do ots job with throttle closed and does all the acelerator travel fully opened, but it requires a fitting in order to hold it togheter.

Use a flat piece of aluminium and make a simple adapter plate - I did the same when I fitted a Gti6 inlet to my MI16 years ago.

 

About 4mm thick flat piece of aluminium, countersink machine screws and threadlock into original throttle body holes, then you can mount the new TPS at any angle you need:

no mine looks nothing like that apart from the plug.   easy to file the shaft flat both sides if required

In your case , are you using the switch TPS sensor or the proper potentiometer?

Yes in that example I was using MI16 engine management, so converting from the Gti6 throttle pot to the older MI throttle switch.

 

But it'll work the other way round if you want to run a proper throttle pot on the 8v throttle body.

Sure thing! I am going to use the proper potenciometer , since my switch is damaged by the years of use , so i will have to do the adapting fitting in order to use the potenciometer like you sugested. But in my case since my tps fitment its not adjustable like yours , i guess i will have to do a plate wich allows the TPS sensor position to be adjustable , that will be handy when seting up.
