What is this for?

Morning all,

 

I have recently bought a 1988 1.6 cti and am going through it.

 

I was changing the ecu coolant temp sensor yesterday and noticed this plug connector hanging behind a water hose.

 

Does anybody know what it is for?

Thanks. The car runs Ok so thought it was maybe for an option that the car doesn’t have.

Think it was a diagnostic connector
