GTi6 2.3 stroker

My new engine project.. 

Head:

Ported and polished RS head with catcams '109 (274*/267*)

 

Bottom end:

Dw12 crank (96mm)

Honda K24 87mm pistons (k24a3) PH 30mm

PEC forged rods (22mm pin) (for gti6 turbo aplication)

Some work ... Rods hit the block wall on crank spin.. Some grinding to complete

In the end piston skimed by 1mm because piston comp. height is 30mm 

235-48-158-30= -1mm

Looking good! What about valve to piston clearance? How will you solve that?

Its ok

Inlet about 4-5mm clearance 

Ex. Cca 3mm 

Iil dig depeer more anyway because piston dish volume, now is only 3-4cc, i must have about 10-11cc for cca 11.8:1 CR

24mm like stock gti6 rod

I’m looking for rod/piston combo for my turbo build. There are plenty of dish options in the K20/24 range. Facing 1mm off could be the answer.

He states 158mm  (235-48-158-30= -1mm)

Pocketing the valve reliefs ... dish is about 8cc

I know this is an older post just wondering on how much deeper you went when pocketing the valve reliefs am meaning to run catcams 109

You need to do a dry build I'd say. But for the cost of some decent pistons is it worth the hassle?

Well had the time this morning to look into pistons and can get a custom set made for 600 which I thought wasn’t to bad. Was just because I had a set of standard k24 pistons sitting I thought about using them

Regardless of std pistons or not, when you do custom builds and/or big cams, you have to measure valve to piston clearance accurately and mill pockets accordingly.

Ok that’s great thanks new to this na builds with big cams as use to evos and there’s not many folk in my area with knowledge of the xu10j4rs still undecided on cams as with it being 2.3 stroke probably won’t be able to rev as high compared to the standard 2.0

If the appropriate valve train is in place it will. A 96mm crank machined and balanced ends up 1kg to 1.5kg lighter than a standard gti6 crank aswell. 

 

300 degree cams should be good with the right valve reliefs
