On top?

Hi Guys,

I have been installing adjustable top mounts inside the front turrets. Any reason the mounts can’t be placed on top of the turrets like in the picture ? 
 

Any thoughts and pointers appreciated.

I think you'd need to weld a plate to the turret first as the metal is very thin, you've got 3 bolts basically holding the weight of the corner of the car, the metal will tear. 3 or 4 mm plate will spread the load over the entire topmount mounting area and shouldn't tear.

 

The other thing you do is cock about with the wishbone angles, I've never looked in to it myself so don't know exactly the ins and outs, but I know that most rally cars will weld a stiffening plate under the turret to give them extra clearance. Not sure how badly your altered mounting height effects bump steer though.
