Help with misc wire indentification

Morning All,

whilst attempting to clean up the engine bay on my recently acquired 1.9 phase 2 non-cat, no ac, no pas, I came across several electrical connections that I need help to identify.

I understand that the car has had an engine replacement at some stage which may explain why not everything is connected!

1. Offside front suspension tower:

black wire with female spade connection earthed to fuel filter bracket - does this connect to the male connection on the strut top ?

Green wire inside black plastic sleeve with female spade connector - what is that ?

(brake reservoir has 2 green wires connected)

2. Cam cover:

Unconnected Brown multi-plug on top (black, red, white wires) in white sleeve disappears down back of engine to a ‘sender’ in to Engine block next to speedo cable - what is this and could it be a source of an oil leak in that area as car dropping oil ?
3. Header Tank:

Brown wire wrapped around H/T to keep out of the way disappears to a large brown multi plug under MAF meter - could this be oil temp sender wire as that is missing and gauge not working as a result ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1, brake wear sensor.

 

2, engine speed sensor for diagnostic purposes, wont cause an oil leak, most likely camshaft cover or distributor O-ring.

 

3, may well be oil temperature, earth it and you should see the gauge go to full, the sender is on the rear of the sump, that wire tends to be very brittle by now.

 

205 doesn't have a MAF, (mass airflow meter)   its an AFM, (air flow meter,)   minor detail but its a flap type that measures how much air is going in by the position of a flap rather than the mass of the air rushing by a heated element that changes resistance due to the cooling effect of the inrush, which is used on more modern vehicles.

 

 

there will be a few more unused connectors, a 2 pin red one by the left side headlight which is only used on twin fan equipped models, and a 5 slot brown one dangling from the cooling fan wiring, which is a test point for the fans.

That's really helpful - Thankyou for taking the time to reply.

 

Just to clarify, the brake wear sensor wire is the green wire inside the black plastic sleeve and should be connected to the male connection on the top of the strut - right ? So where does the black lead go that is earthed to the fuel filter bracket ?

 

Finally (for now), any reputable specialists in West Yorkshire that anyone can recommend to work on these cars. I'm thinking specifically to check the seup of the fuelling & ignition possibly on a rolling road as it suffers from the well documented kangarooing at low speed (AFM has been replaced with a rebuilt one). Seems to be a bit of a black art to getting it sorted for the uninitiated.

Hi I’m also confused with the wiring layout on a pug was wondering what the cable ok the front panel is doing going to the battery yellow wire.
