PhilNW 44 Posted May 17, 2020 (edited) Paint on bonnet has cracks in it. It has had a respray sometime before I bought it Closer inspection looks like there is a mastic substance between the stiffeners and bonnet skin which has dried out over time and now the skin is vibrating causing the paint to crack. Thought it was a reaction to the previous paint but now thinking differently. Is this mastic normal rather than spot welding the two together, which I guess would have caused dimples in the skin? DamirGTI 342 Posted May 17, 2020 Yes , the stiffening structure is pretty much bonded on .. spot welded too but only on the corners of the bonnet . D
PhilNW 44 Posted May 17, 2020 Thought that was the case, any idea what sealant/bonding agent will stand the under-bonnet heat? I was thinking Tiger seal but not sure it will stand the temperatures (Upol tech sheet does not state anything)
