Front Bumper Support Mounts

Recommended Posts

Wallby

Hi all,

Decided to give the front arches a clean up and treat some rust that's starting to show. This soon escalated and wasn't long before the front bumper was off!

On trying to remove the bumper support bars, the bolt that's inserted into the chassis leg snapped! Is there anyway of changing this or any ideas what I can do?

I did read that they are not really needed, but would like to keep them if it's not too much work.

That stud is spot welded to the bumper “irons” that the front bumper front mount bolts attach to. If you remove the front bumper off the car then remove the irons it’s an easy enough job to make and weld on a new stud to the bumper iron. I’ve done loads. I use a plated set screw to hopefully help the nut not seize on again and shear the stud off.
