New engine arrived

So i managed to source a fully working 1.9 gti engine on ebay from classic peugeot spares £350 absolute bargain. 75 ,000 miles. Before putting it back in the car I'm going to install a new timing belt, pump tensioner etc. All the usual servicing things have been done oils, plugs , sump off , oil pump cleaned/measured. I measured all the valve gaps all of my exhaust gaps seem to be at or just over their specified limit of 0.45mm so i figure it wil be necessary to install new ones at the correct size. Now I'm very OCD with mechanical work i always like to cover whatever i can for longevity. Wondering if it would make sense to replace the valve stem seals, give the valves a quick lap in fine paste, check for sealing, measure everything up etc ? Would you guys bother doing this if the engine was out the car already and considering the old timing belts coming off ?

I’d do a compression test, if you can get away with leaving the head on I would do. If it’s a genuine 75k then nothing should need touching

tge valve shims can be done with the head on and is an easy job, I managed to get my valve clearances in tolerance using shims from a second hand head

Yeah it does seem a bit bothersome to warrant the price of new head bolts, gasket etc and the time. I have always been told a bit of carbon is never actually a bad thing. Yeah i have done valve clearances before its all fun until you tip the head up after doing it and Ll the buckets and shims fall out, it was just my luck they were not marked with their sizes either ! Also im sourcing a gearbox too. I actually unbolted the diff casing when removing the 406 engine setup. When installing a new box do the cv joint axles just slide into position within the diff box , that said is there are anything worth changing on a gearbox for peace of mind. Oil seals seem to pop into my mind ? Thanks mate
