Smell of fuel in oil

Recommended Posts

Hello all

Been awhile since i've been on here.

I have an issue with my 1.9 with Jetronic and D6B head.

I pulled the dipstick the other day and got a smell of petrol in the oil.

I drained all the oil out, and filled with fresh.

The car starts but sounds like it misfires when starting first. Sounds lumpy.

When i blip the throttle a few times i manage to get it to idle around 1100, and doesn't sound like it is misfiring.

I have changed the plugs. I am awaiting a new bottle coil, i have a ignition amp as well which i intended to fit, once i get the coil.

I don't want to do the setup as per haynes manual until i've these fitted.

Just looking for ideas?

Injectors leaking? Get them serviced & flow tested, or buy new.

Check the ECU temp sensor resistance too.

In my case many years ago it was the air flow meter that was the issue, causing the car to over fuel massively.
