Part identification help please.

I really hate having to ask this as it sounds very amateurish.

however I have a part that has come off the engine that I cannot identify. I have images of most parts, but not this. I’m sure its off the cylinder head area (external) as it was in a bag with the engine lifting hooks.
 

The car is a 1.6 205 Gti 1991,

Yup , goes on the front side of the head , in the corner next to the top timing belt cover ... (a bit hard to explain without a picture , it's some kind or "additional" timing belt cover plate)
