mmt 15 Posted March 26, 2020 Hi Guys, I’ve been building a new GTI6 race engine. Started out using the original single TB alu lump inlet manifold. Sounded and performed ok on the rollers. However something went wrong- engine out! On that same day an ex. DTC s2000 306gti6 (same as BTCC) was due to be rolled as well. The engine had ITBs - so the journey begins. mmt 15 Posted March 26, 2020 Some years ago I bought some ITB from a 4-age Toyota Blacktop engine. In the storrage I also had an old Mi16 inlet manifold.
mmt 15 Posted March 26, 2020 Started out cleaning the ITBs. Tootbrush and oven cleaner.
mmt 15 Posted March 26, 2020 Next I made the mounting plate for the ITBs. This was a lot of work. Meassuring, drilling and cutting. At the same time I Cut the Mi16 manifold.
mmt 15 Posted March 26, 2020 Next up was preparing for the mounting plate to be welded on to the Cut manifold - welding, painting and mounting the ITBs
mmt 15 Posted March 26, 2020 Dremel time. Mating the ITBs Withers the manifold
mmt 15 Posted March 26, 2020 More cleaning / Sponge bath
mmt 15 Posted March 26, 2020 Putting it together. Also I needed to make a ToyPeu throttle cable bracket. It fits the holes on the ITBs and uses the Mi 16 throttle cable.
mmt 15 Posted March 26, 2020 Many years ago I bought an Air box from another gtidriver. The airbox was made to fit Webers- Cut out the back plate and made a new one to fit the new ITB setup. Also needed to fit the Peugeot Air temp
mmt 15 Posted March 26, 2020 Shiny stuff arrived from Australia. 100 mm stacks one-piece alu. Nice.
mmt 15 Posted March 26, 2020 Sourced a connector to the TPS. The local Toyota dealership parts guy loved sourcing something special. He had to go into old books (real papir books!) to find the right part.
mmt 15 Posted March 26, 2020 Next up was filter for the airbox - this time the Italians are up. Filter comes from a 1994 Fiat Punto.
mmt 15 Posted March 26, 2020 A very Nice winter project. Looking forward to hear the ITBs roar. Engine is soon going back in. Cheers
petert 586 Posted March 26, 2020 Love your work. Although I think you need more AC balance in order to deepen the penetration on that fillet weld! I've done exactly the same with two Nissan R32 TB's and an Mi16 manifold.
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted March 26, 2020 Looks great. We had a similar setup on my mate and I mi16 track car. A trip into the tyre wall smashed them to bits along with scrapping the shell ☹️
mmt 15 Posted March 26, 2020 Thanks guys. @peter How much did you gain with the ITBs? Are the Nissan ones also 45 mm?
allanallen 528 2 Cars Posted March 26, 2020 Nissan bodies are 45mm, I use a pair on my mi16, otherwise standard engine made 180hp and 147lbft
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted March 26, 2020 Ours made 177bhp and 145ftlb. My mate Phil was mega pissed off as he put loads of work into it all, second set of injectors in the bellmouths etc It made 170bhp before we touched it.

A set of 48mm EFI Hardware TB's came up at a price I couldn't refuse. When did you buy your trumpets from?
