Electric window mechanisms...

As you know my 1989 'G' reg 1.9 GTI would originally have had electric windows fitted.

 

At some point in its past they have been removed and manual winder mechanisms put in.

 

I've checked and I seem to have all the necessary wiring, plugs and fuses/relays etc. in both doors to reinstall them, hopefully relatively easily.

 

My question is... apart from things like 3 and 5 door models are there any differences in the electric mechanisms over the years I should be aware of?

 

There doesn't seem to be a shortage of second had ones about but, from the images on ebay etc., it's hard to tell.
