Fitting Compomotives with different offsets

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys!

I find myself in a strange situation…

I bought these Compomotives in an impulsive moment one night on ebay – always just loved the rims and I think the 205 will stop traffic with them fitted

When I went to pick them up… it was a 10 hour round trip drive. I never looked at them closely I was so tired by the time I got there!

When I got home and tried to fit them I realized the hub size was 65.1mm (106?) and the 205 is 66mm.

But that issue is small.. then I noticed 2 are ET20… the other 2 are ET35??? (fairly stupid I didn’t cop this before!)

Not sure why someone would have a set of 4 with different offsets?

So I am planning on the following, would love some to check my plan makes sense!

  • Rear: Purchase these spacers which are 15mm, and convert to 65.1mm, pair them with the 2 ET35, to bring them out the same position as the 2 ET20’s.
  • Front: the 2x ET20’s, bored out to 66mm.

Will be a bit odd having 2 rims bored out to 66mm and 2 that are not, but hey I guess I’ll be able to get them on the car

Thanks in advance!

Donal

There is a lot that can go wrong when you fit aftermarket wheels, it's worth the effort though, that is a nice wheel on a 205 IMO.

205 is 65.1 same as a 106, fords are 63.4.

being ET20 and 35 you seem to have found a pair of rwd escort wheels, and fwd escort/fiesta wheels!  if they are 63.4mm bore

Hey guys,

Many thanks for the replies!

@welshpug - your right! They are 63.4mm!! I could have sworn the listing said Peugeot, but I might have seen 4x108 and excitement & assumption took over...

@allanallen - just confirmed, they are 7" wide. ET16 vs. ET20, the smaller the number the more they stick out is it? Maybe a spacer could bring them out a little?

Yikes... this is getting complicated... I paid a good lot of money for these guys, be great to get them on there!

Or maybe let them go and try not to think about the 10 hour drive to get em....

Why not check the original Ebay advert?

If it states Peugeot fitment then it's a misrepresentation of the goods and you're entitled to a refund.

If there's no Pug mention then you'll have to own your mistake.

Argh, the snippet I can find of the ad just says 4x108... I think I might have assumed the rest!

I guess options are

1) Put up for sale

2) Bore out to 65.1 + spacers on the rear to bring all 4 out to ET20

Anyone know of anyone who successfully got ford rims onto a 205?

Thanks all the replies... I'll be more careful reading ebay ads next time!

This silver one is my 4th 205, rallyed the red one below in 2009 until I destroyed it unfortunately, and the black one was just gorgeous, really regret selling that one!

Going to try get the silver one back to showroom condition, will post more as i Go - thanks again all!

You can buy hubcentric spacers specifically intended for fitting Ford wheels to Peugeots e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223376554051
