Gti 1.6 rear drum wheel cylinder differences.

Hi there I've got a 1.6 gti, needing new rear cylinders. Looking at what's on the car they have the round mounting point with the bleed valve directly above the fluid line.

The cylinders I've bought also has a round mounting point, but the bleed valve is to the side of the fluid line.

Will these fit? Cheers.

the cylinders with the offset bleed nipple have built in peeasure limiters, not what a gti uses as they use a single inline valve mounted in the engine bay on the chassis leg behind the battery tray, you need the identical ones to what you already have.

trw make them still, I fitted some last year.

Bollocks. So these ones won't work? Why didn't they just use the same cylinder. Seems like a silly thing to do.

No they won’t work properly. As for why they did it like that, base models used a diagonal split system, gti’s used front to rear split.

As usual the GTI setup works better but is more expensive.

Thanks but they look the exact same to me. Which one has the bleed screw on the top? My master cylinder is a bendix with a servo.

Cheers

Which type of the drum shoes you have Bendix or Girling ?

For Bendix system , parts catalogue lists only offset bleed screw cylinders , but for Girling top side bleed nipple cylinder part No. is 4402 75  (same for both sides)
