Wiring route for Oil temp sensor

Any advice where to route the wire to the oil temp sensor at the back of the oil pan?

 

I'm removing the "famous brown multiplug" and basically putting new wires to all the sensors. The oil temp sensor wire sould be going between the SAD and the distributor, but I don't find a good way to mount it safely.

 

If I let it loose and free, it will touch the hot exhaust manifold and burn.

 

Advice, pics, tips???

Try routing behind the rear engine to hold it out of the way of the exhaust add heat proof sleeve to protect from general engine heat

Originally it runs through a plastic heat resistant sleeve/tube but they harden then crumble away over the years so you'll need to improvise something similar.

Not touching anything moving or anything hot now.

Finally was able to start the car first time in 2 years:

 

I want to have opinions about the pressure behavior.

 

1. Starter motor rised the pressure up to 4bars (looooong rotation)

2. After start, the pressure kept up to almost maximum up to the point where temps were at the normal 90+C

3. The needle dropped to almost zero when the idle speed dropped to 800rpm and then started dancing on the whole scale very randomly (it seemed like electrical contact failure...)

4. it finally stabilized like this after running idle for about 15min.

5. It also followed rpm's when I gived it some throttle

 

Fact:

- Original pressure sensor died 2 years ago

- I re-made the wiring also to the sensor (removed the brown multiplug totally and made soldered contacts instead...)

- This is now the first time when new sensor is tried

 

So which one do you vote...

- Is the oil-pump's piston jamming and not controlling smoothly the pressure?

- Is the new sensor already broken and reading whatever values?

 

==> I will do more running of the engine on the weekend and see how this developes...

Id say loose connection perhaps .. had one doing similar "Mexican wave" , fixed it by cleaning up the instrument cluster connectors and upping the tension on the connector terminals for tighter grip .. sometimes the press. gauge tends to get sticky (especially if the car was left standing unused for longer period) so an knock with the finger in that corner of the clusters works !

Thanks Damir,

 

I will do more testing later with it. This weekend the weather was too cold for me to keep the garage doors open so could not run the engine (car is not able to move outdoors at the moment).
