Spacer plate

Hi I am new to the forum and hello. I own a 1.9 205gti for the last 4 years now and what a fantastic car, it had an engine rebuild in 2016 from a local garage which specialises in classic cars unfortunately I can't go back to them over a dispute I had with a couple of issues. One of the problems I have is a oil leak which is leaking from the spacer plate on the top side where it's joined to the bottom of the engine block, I removed the sump and the two screws holding the spacer plate on but it is stuck solid with whatever glue the garage used iam to frightened to hit the plate with anything in case I damage the alloy block. Can anyone help me any tips or idea's would be much appreciated many thanks mark

I usually use a pry bar between the main crankshaft caps and the reinforcement ribs in the spacer.

OK great thanks for the advice  I will give this a go when I remove the sump again, unfortunately I had to put the sump back on and fill with new oil after I gave up the first time. A mechanic I spoke to said to use a heat gun to help soften the glue but I was bit unsure about doing this ? Cheers mark

You can see a little hole in the edge of the block, I just use a bar in there to get the edge up then it's easy, they do stick on when sealed well
