Front Driving (Fog) Lights

Recommended Posts

Phil205

My car is fitted with (SIEM) front driving lights - (not the headlights - the white lights below the bumper that come on with the main beam)

Does anyone know where to get a pair of replacements from ? Do I need to get a left and right hand version or are they the same on both sides ?

I am happy to buy a new pair, if available.

Thankyou.

They're the same on both sides.

There are normally a few genuine Siem lights on ebay for crazy prices and there are loads of new Denji copies for much less.

Thankyou Jackherer,

They are not available from Peugeot I guess ?

The Denji copies fit ok ?

No, they aren't made any more so the over priced ones on ebay are all that's available if you want to keep it original.

From what I understand the Denji ones fit OK but rust a bit faster than the originals. I've never tried them though.

hang fire and wait for BakerBM to finish their prototyping of the reflector, they do the surround already.

denji ones fit terrible but you can swap them into the SIEM backings, and keep the original glass.

I can't find the surround on there website? I have seen some on eBay but unsure of their quality, there's the plastic covers which I'm going to fit and hopefully that will give some protection

Ian has had the OE Denjis redone so they mount like the Siem units did and does all the repair parts as well, Be warned thou there are cheap copies of Denji's around too which don;t even have a proper bulb holder, On ebay he is escortbuffy, most others are the cheap copies

When buying the Denji units, do I need to buy the new mounting brackets or can I re-use the existing ones from the SIEM units ? If swapping the whole light unit, Is it just a case of undoing the bolt at the back of the light and swapping the unit over ?

Sounds like a good idea to use the existing SIEM body and swap out the innards, but I think they are pretty corroded. I will have another look to see if they can still be used. (The glass fell off as it had nothing to hold it on any more).

the body is plastic, so unlikely uou need to change those (also its not likely you'll be able to undo the 10x1.25 nut on the mounting stud given its been exposed to the elements 25-35 years)

So true. Only way of undoing the nut is to cut off all the exposed thread first of all.

As said just undo the 2x screws and leave the backing alone.

I am going to buy the replacement parts from Ian on ebay. Hopefully I just need new reflectors and metal frames.

I am hoping I can re-use the existing bulb and wiring. I can see the bulb has the positive wire connected to it. Where does the negative get connected to the bulb ?

Does the rectangular rubber gasket fit between the plastic body and the reflector ?

Someone thought it should fit between the metal frame and glass ?

My unit pretty much fell apart when I took off the screws, so wasn't quite sure the order to re-assemble with the new reflector and new frame.
