Rear water flange installion

Recommended Posts

idoari

Hi, i want to install the rear water flange.

I don't have the genuine flange - i order a FEBI one, I have the geuine oring seal though.

My question is do i need to put RTV on the oring and/or the seal or the seal with some silicone grease is enough?

I want to avoid to use RTV if possiable because in a lot of cases it can clog water passages.

Thanks

Ido

I personally would use a small amount of RTV. Anyone who clogs water passages with it is simply using FAR too much. You need a thin smear and no more.

+1, thin smear RTV.

About 3 months ago I saw one that had loads of RTV, and the pressure when it was tightened up, snapped off the outer plastic "wall" of the O ring recess in the moulding, ruining it.
